Chocolate Superfood Protein Powder in Two of My Favorite Holiday Drinks (Hot and Cold)

Since I'm a sunshine-loving Florida girl that hails from the blustery, cold northeast, I understand that some of us want hot drinks to comfort us through the holidays...and some of us (the lucky ones IMO) want a cold, nutrition packed smoothie to cool us off and fill us up for a healthy breakfast or post workout snack. Health Warrior challenged me to make a hot and cold drink recipe for the holidays using their Chocolate Superfood Protein Powder.I love this protein powder because the ingredients are all real food ingredients. To be honest, I'm not a huge protein powder or bar fan, simply because most powders and bars are full of weird, manufactured ingredients that make me gassy and leave me feeling unsatisfied and hungry. Health Warrior is the only protein powder brand I've found and loved that uses real food to nourish their customers, without feeding us strange ingredients you might find at a gym smoothie bar. The best thing is, the ingredients used in the Superfood Protein Powder help us meet our daily nutrition goals in additon to providing probiotics for our gut health.

Here's the hot choclate recipe with a zip I made for all you blustery, cold winter folks:Serves 2Ingredients:

  • 2 cups almond milk (or your milk of choice)
  • 2 Tbsp Chocolate Superfood Protein Powder
  • 2 Tbsp honey or maple syrup* (or 2 packets of Truvia)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 shot of espresso (optional)
  • small pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Warm the almond milk in a small saucepan, then whisk in the Superfood Protein Powder, honey (or sweetener of choice), and vanilla extract. Add in shot of espresso (optional). Whisk well to remove any lumps from the powder.
  2. Optional: place in your blender (make sure the cocoa isn’t too hot – you don’t want to get burned) and blend until frothy.
  3. Serve warm.

Here's the smoothie recipe with a zip I made for all you warm weather folks:Serves 2Ingredients

  • 2 frozen ripe bananas (chopped prior to freezing)
  • 1/3 cup frozen strawberries (or blueberries)
  • 2-3 heaping Tbsp Chocolate Superfood Protein Powder
  • 2 Tbsp almond butter
  • 1.5-2 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk (or milk of choice)
  • 1 dash stevia or (2 Tbs honey or maple syrup depending on sweetness of bananas)
  • 1/3 cup ice
  • 1 big handful big handful of spinach
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 shot of espresso (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
